This is one of the absolute highest quality restorations on a Steinway grand piano you can get. Can you tell the difference between this one and a NEW STEINWAY O? This one was restored in Europe this year.
Pictures simply do not do this piano justice. This piano was rebuilt by one of Europe's BEST Steinway restoration facilities. This piano is immaculate. I have been in this industry 28 years, and there are only 3 to 4 companies that I have seen in the WORLD who are able to do a restoration this meticulous and thorough. Every inch of this piano is perfect. The soundboard is original, which maintains the sound integrity of this 1916 model O, but it looks NEW. The bridge caps are NEW. All the brass is NEW. (Not the old brass just polished out, but it is NEW!) The piano even has the BRASS INLAID DECAL on the fallboard. Yes, it's NEW as well! The pedal lyre has the modern era lyre support set-up. In the triangular well where you find the serial number, the model "O" is raised, as it is in all post-1980 model Steinway grands. Even the lid prop stick and support bar are satin ebony, while the rest of the piano is polished ebony. Just like the NEW Steinway grands. The action has NEW German Steinway parts. The finish is from German BASF polyester resins, which are the finest in the world. It looks, feels, plays, and even SMELLS NEW! Yet, this is a Steinway from the heart of Steinway's "Golden Age" of piano manufacturing. Most Steinway enthusiasts revere these pianos to be far better than any of the NEW products Steinway currently produces. Plus, this piano has been meticulously regulated, prepped, voiced, and tuned to A-440 concert pitch. It needs nothing but a concert level pianist at the helm.
